Client Stories...

Since our inception in 1999, NHFFC has helped approximately 1,000 women.  Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and include women who are homeless, living in shelters, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, incest and rape, young women and women in college, singles mothers on TANF, families with one or both parents unemployed or disabled, newly arrived immigrants, women with HIV and AIDS, women in drug and alcohol treatment centers, as well as women in prison and women in the military.

"I didn't know what I was going to do.  I was scared and didn't know where to turn and the clinic and NH Fund for Choice helped me to sit down and concentrate hard on where I might be able to access funds.  After that they helped me with the remaining amount so that I would be able to have my procedure.  I'll never forget the kindness of those women
".

"I was incarcerated a few weeks into my pregnancy.  I had no job, no family help, no insurance and no money.  I was completely dependent on others to help me get an abortion.  Without funding help I could not have had an abortion
".

"I was newly arrived in America.  I came here with my husband and four children.  We were looking for work when I found out I was pregnant.  It was not a right time to have another child.  We were already struggling so much.  New Hampshire Fund for Choice helped us to pay for our abortion.  Thank you".

"I was single mother of two kids already.  I didn't even have a place to live and was pregnant.  My pregnancy partner took off and wouldn't help pay for an abortion.  He said he didn't care what happened.  I was receiving Medicaid insurance but they wouldn't pay for an abortion.  I needed help really bad.  I borrowed as much as I could but it wasn't enough.  The fund helped and I was able to get my procedure.  Why didn't my health insurance cover the procedure?"

"My husband got hurt at work and was on workman's comp.  We were really struggling to pay our bills and did not have health insurance coverage for our procedure.  The clinic and the fund helped us during an very difficult time".
